RESEARCH & EDUCATION

Explore the evidence model with synthetic records.

For researchers, lecturers and students examining provenance, spatial context, uncertainty and publication authority. This is a demonstration surface, not an operational land-manager workspace.

Synthetic records. No council participation is implied.Research context does not establish causation.

Questions this model could help researchers examine

These are open questions. Substriva has not answered them; it provides an environment in which they can be examined.

  • How should environmental works history be represented over time?
  • What metadata is necessary for defensible provenance?
  • How should uncertainty and missing evidence be communicated?
  • How can evidence from different land managers be read together without centralising authority?
  • What information survives staff, contractor and system changes?
  • How useful are retrospective works histories for environmental or public-health research?
  • How should spatial boundaries and source limitations be represented?

Environmental exposure research

Some environmental-health questions depend on knowing what occurred at a place before an event was observed: treatment history, substrate or material changes, vegetation works, and how these overlap in time. A provenance-first works history may help researchers reconstruct that context while keeping unknown information explicit.

A works history can support investigation. It does not establish causation.

For one example of an open research question, see Research and limitations.

Sample data

Eight synthetic records for one fictional place. The geometry sits in open water so it cannot be mistaken for a real reserve.

SYNTHETIC DEMONSTRATION DATA. Not a council, agency or real-site record.
