ABOUT SUBSTRIVA

Land, made legible.

Substriva is an independent provenance layer for land-management records. It helps councils and land managers keep works records with their source, location, review and publication history attached, alongside the GIS and statutory systems they already use. It is not a government service and not a safety or clearance service.

Where it started

Substriva began with an ordinary question about a strip of public land: what land-management activity was documented there, when, and which organisation held the record. The answer was spread across reserve, transport-corridor and contractor records, and even establishing who managed each part took real work.

That difficulty is common to public land across Australia, and it is what Substriva is built to address: make responsibility, source, date and scope easy to read together, and keep anything the records do not establish explicitly unknown. Built for Australia.

How it stays independent

  • A missing record is shown as unknown. It is never presented as untreated, safe or compliant.
  • Taking part never changes what a record says, and no organisation is described as a partner without written agreement.
  • Corrections add a new version; earlier versions are kept.
  • Research questions are kept separate from the product and are labelled as open questions, not findings. Research and limitations.
